How you will impact Ingevity
Ingevity Corporation is seeking a Global Demand Planner/Inventory Manager to join our Global Planning team. This position is responsible for leading the creation of demand plans critical to the accomplishment of our monthly Sales and Operations Planning process. By collaborating with all levels of the commercial team, this position ensures that demand plans are developed which drive creation of both supply plans and financial projections. To make this happen, this position ensures that our sales reps enter sales forecasts (volume and price) into our planning software (OMP). This is then aggregated and presented to the business leadership for review and approval. Because the forecast is such a critical input, the demand planners work with the commercial teams to improve FC accuracy using metrics and analytics. This position also evaluates global inventory to aid in the setting of customer required inventory and in ensuring aged, excess, and damaged materials are being dispositioned in a timely manner.
Perform effectively and reliably under time constraints to support the monthly S&OP global planning process
Ensure sales forecast for the 15 month horizon are entered by sales reps for both volume and pricing
Lead the creation of demand plans by consolidating the forecasts into a global view of demand and obtaining business management approval
Utilize understanding of businesses and customers along with FC metrics and analytics (such as 60, 90, 120 day MAPE and CFE) to identify error and work with sales reps to improve FC accuracy
Implement statistical FC where appropriate to improve FC performance and reduce manual effort expended by sales reps
During periods of demand constraints, act as subject matter experts for processes which limit sales to forecasted volumes by working with customer service and sales reps to ensure effective use of these processes
For respective markets, lead the development of the annual plan (budget) for the coming year
Implement continuous improvements to demand planning-related processes including enhancement of the next generation advanced planning system (OMP) which was recently put in place
Manage the global inventory for related business units consisting of raw materials, work in progress, finished goods and maintenance and repair materials
Assist with determining inventory placement on a global level to support business plans
What you need to succeed
A minimum of 3 years supply chain experience (planning experience preferred)
Proven ability to lead diverse groups to achieve defined endpoints in support of critical business processes
Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders across various levels of the organization
High level of attention to detail and analytical capability
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc. (experience with planning software and especially OMP a plus)
Ability to communicate effectively and present information confidently across a wide range of audiences (e.g., upper management, commercial, production, supply chain, finance)
Desire to learn about respective markets to gain confidence of business partners
Ability to make decisions using business judgment and intuition
Strategic thinking to develop inventory levels that meet current and future business needs
Ability to develop usable, actionable information from business data and to effectively explain results
Potential to advance beyond this current position
Occasional travel (including international) required
